Borla 2.5 in. Touring Climber Cat-Back Exhaust System part#140828

The following is a real world review of the Borla Touring Climber Exhaust System 140828 that I purchased at retail price approximately 9 months ago and these are my personal opinions and experience with this product. I daily drive my Jeep and have also driven on some long trips with this system in place.

This is not a paid or sponsored brand review from Borla.

With Rock Crawling, ground clearance is a high priority and unfortunately the huge muffler hanging underneath in the rear of Jeeps is a huge target just waiting to be smashed by a rock or ledge.

I wanted a high tuck system that put the exhaust up into the framerails and eliminated the huge tin can muffler in the rear. I also wanted something that didnt sound like a hamster blowing a trumpet going down the road, so after trying and removing a few other muffler delete packages, I was happy to see Borla offering their “Touring” version of the climber system so I had to test it out.

After installing the Borla 2.5 in. Touring Climber Cat-Back Exhaust System part#140828

Borla Touring Climber Exhaust System 140828

Pros :

  • High Clearance / Eliminates factory rear muffler and tucks the system safely between the frame rails where it can be further protected by a belly or transfer case skid plate
  • T-304 Stainless Steel (the last exhaust system you will ever purchase) backed by 1,000,000 mile warranty
  • Moderate exhaust tone and no drone at highway speeds or long trips
  • Easy installation cat-back system
  • Opens up the rear section of the undercarriage for a future fuel cell to be mounted where the muffler used to be and can upgrade to a triangulated four link rear suspension. Big plus for future upgrades!!

Cons :

  • Exhaust hangers seemed to be a little off in “level” position and had to manually adjust them a little (Big F*!$ing Hammer LOL) for the tailpipe to position down correctly.

I would highly recommend the Borla Touring Climber Exhaust System 140828 to anyone looking to for extra clearance and to rid themselves of the huge tin can muffler in the rear of your Jeep and doesnt want an obnoxious sounding exhaust.
